Inaugural Post IS101

 Hello All,

My name is Rafael, I'm currently a full-time student at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), to which one of my classes is IS101.

So far CSN has treated me well, with 3 campuses to choose from it is incredibly convenient for people beginning their own higher education journey with many amenities and services to choose from I would without a doubt recommend this college for anyone even if their aspirations lie past that of a 2-year degree/ trade. As for the class to which this blog pertains to, IS101 has granted me a greater depth of knowledge to Information Systems, despite my own previous experience using computers and mobile devices. My professor, Mr. Albert Wu encourages discipline, attention to detail and work ethic that goes above and beyond, I certainly believe this class will bolster my professional productivity as I transition from student to my future career of choice.

A good example of an element my IS101 class has encouraged me to revisit can be found in our virtual "LabSim" titled "2.1.8 Peripheral Device Facts". Within this brief handout of information, I learned that not only are keyboard, mouses and webcams considered peripheral devices to desktop computers (and laptops for that matter) but scanners, printers and even external storage devices. Peripheral devices also rely on hardware specific "Drivers" which enable the host device the ability to "Read them".

With all this in mind I'm motivated to continue to challenge my prior knowledge of Information Systems, with a formalized setting.

Best,

Rafa
