Second Blog Post: IS101 phase 1 coming to a close!

As my class and I get ready to do the MO-110 Word Certification exam, we are looking back at our performance during phase 1 of IS101-3003. I did decently well during Phase 1 of IS101-3003 however, allocating extra time to completing the work will help my success.

A topic that particularly stood out to me was 4.11.1, Headers and Footers. Thanks to this I found greater efficiency in formatting my headers and knowing how to properly manage the text properties of said headings and footings.

As for my big milestone, the MO-110 Word Certification exam I prepared completing the prerequisites, they are incredibly informative. All this in mind I am also looking forward heading into spring and having the weather change.

  1. Hi Rafa, I agree with you about needing to allocate more time for the work. Sometimes the challenge in this class is not really the difficulty of the tools, but just making sure we give ourselves enough time to practice them. If we rush through everything, it’s easy to miss small details.

Headers and footers are actually very useful, especially in professional settings. In our office we are required to use footers and headers for documents. You wouldn’t believe how many times I see coworkers paste the company logo and address directly into the body of the document instead of the header. Then when they copy and paste things around, everything gets messy or lost. That’s exactly the reason headers exist, so the logo, address, and phone numbers stay consistent on every page like a proper letterhead. Once you understand that feature, it really makes documents look cleaner and much more organized.

  2. Yes, allocating more time to IS101 will help you perform even better in Phase 2 :-)

Good job on joining your classmates on conquering the MO-110 Word exam, Rafa!

I echo Kevin's sentiment that headers and footers are very useful in professional settings ^_^

  3. Hello Rafael. I also need to set more time aside for IS101, mostly to make sure I'm actually understanding what I am learning and not just doing the assignments to get them done. Before this class, the most I've ever done with headers and footers are adding page numbers, I didn't know that there was so much more you could add to them.

  4. Hi Rafael! Headers and Footers is a great topic to highlight. It’s one of those features that seems simple at first, but it really helps make documents look more organized and professional once you know how to use it correctly.

  5. Hey Rafael, I too need to manage my time well for this class in order to succeed. Assignments can be so easily overlooked and missed so it's best to be prepared well ahead of time to avoid those issues I have been dealing with.

  6. Hey Rafa, yes it's always good to put extra time in something just in case, that's what I did in order to pass the Word Exam, which was something I was stressing about. I will definitely allocate more time as I anticipate for the Excel Exam. Have a great rest of the semester!

  7. Hi Rafael. I like the different features used for headers and footers. It is important to know the different commands that add page numbers in the desired area on the header. Before I learned about these commands, I would just type a number on the top-right of the document and that same number would appear on the consecutive pages. Have you dealt with that same issue in the past?

  8. Hello Rafael, what I found interesting was that you can add a date that automatically updates and also how to update the title page to be different. I really struggled with this in previous classes I would sometimes need a different file during preparation because I didn't understand this concept. I hope things are going well for you this semester, we are almost done with class.

  9. Hello Rafael, headers and footers was a very useful chapter. Learning how to use them properly has already helped when I am writing papers for other classes.

  10. Hi Rafa, I've definitely overlooked Headers and Footers before Phase 1, simply because it felt like it wasn't necessary whenever I used it. After Phase 1 I realized it can give details and show more professionalism that you wouldn't usually get from what you type in the document it self.

  11. Hi Rafael! The weather change has been pretty nice so far...except for some of the really hot days. But I'm glad the sunset is later now!

  14. Hi, Rafael. Headers and footers are a great tool to use. We can use this format to include date/time, page numbers, and titles. This is one of my favorite tools to use since I didn't know anything about headers and footwear until I started studying the MO-110 word.

  15. The chapter you chose is one of the lessons in LabSim that surprised me that Word has that feature. I didn't know Headers and Footers exist, I only thought when I double click the top of the page locks my work space and couldn't type. Great chapter and keep pushing toward success!

  16. Headers and footers are one of those features that seem small at first but end up being really useful once you learn them. I also agree that putting in extra time little by little makes a huge difference in this class. Hope you enjoy the spring weather too 😄

  18. Hey Rafael, Headers and Footers when done correctly make the work look clean and that's what I noticed when we were going over this section in Labsim. Hope all is well with you!

  19. I agree with 4.1.1 being useful Rafa! I used to struggle with formatting it during my COM 101 and ENG 100 classes and I wish I took IS 101 way before those 2 because 4.1.1 could've made my life much easier!

  20. Hello Rafael. Great job with Phase 1! Headers and Footers was a useful section, being able to edit those two features all at once can save a lot of time.
